Day 36 July 18 2010

We traveled from Oregon to California today as we are making our way to Berekely CA.
The drive was a little tough today as there were several uphill and downhill grades along the route, but we made it.
The drive itself was very scenic for the most part. Just a long day of driving, it took us aout a total of 6.5 hours to make this trip today. Guess what, when we got here it was 103 deg. (F). guess we can kiss the cool weather goodby for now. When we left this morning it was about 58 deg. (F).

The best sunrise we have seen in the past few days, great way to start the day.
All down hill from here so they say.
A great view from the I-5 highway.
More down hill grades.
Oregon is saying goodbye to us.
Hello California.
Then all cars and rucks have to stop for inspection to check to see if they have any fruits or veggies. I had forgotten about this, they do this to make sure no one is bringing any bugs into calif. We passed the inspection.
Another downhill venture.
Just in case the trucks had lost their brakes they could go through without hitting anyone.
The first rest stop in CA.
Ver nice place to stop and relax after all the though driving thru the mountains.
The information sign at the rest area.
WOW this looks just like our brother-in-law Ronnie in San Antonio, TX. This man is the president of the 49ers club in CA.
We did elevate a little along the way south.
Oh no another downgrade. But what goes up must come down.
Hey, look what we saw, Mt. Shasta in CA.
And all the snow still up there.
We could have made an exit but we kept going south.
The VFW Memorial Bridge to remember all the Veterans.
A view of Lake Shasta as we crossed the bridge.
One more pic from the bridge.
This is where we will camp out tonight.
An old RV Park but seems nice. Since it is Sunday when we checked in they were having a free sundae.
A little hilly here.
Another shot of the park hills and motor homes.
