Day 17 June 29 2010

Well today we are going to go on the Historic Highway and see a lot of the waterfalls and also the Dam and fish hatchery. It was another beautiful day here we start by a good climb (in the car) to the top to see the Vista House which is a National Historic site. We saw it coming into Portland but had no idea what it was from the highwy way below it. You could climb up to an observation deck and have a beautiful view of the mountains around. Then on to the waterfalls. Some of them were fairly easy to get to but a couple of them required quite a climb. George made all but there was one I just went half up and the other I stayed down. When we went back to the largest falls the sheriff stopped us on our way out. Not knowing what he wanted, but just to thank George for his time in the service. Thanks to Dean Parker, he never goes too far without one of his Navy hats on. That was a relief, we thought we had done something wrong. Ha Ha. On to have a little picnic lunch in the park. We made our next stop to the Dam and went down to see the fish passing thru the area. There were people sitting in a fish counting room doing nothing but counting the number and type of fish passing. Then on to the fish hatchery that is on the same property. They have all their areas up in this part of the country so clean and very well landscaped with the prettiest flowers. After that we went back to RV for the day.

I am looking for anyone going down the river.
