WWW Rally May 2016 Glen Rose TX

Mark and Brenda hosted this rally and what a great rally this was.

Glen Rose Texas is the "Dinosaur Capital of Texas"
We had a total of 14 RV's attend this rally.
Lost of good eating places in and around Glen Rose Texas. Close to Granbury TX and Lipan TX where we visited a Cheese Factory.
We also took in the German Restaurant in Granbury. Ketzler's
Lots of shopping in Glen Rose was a very interesting small Texas Town with a heart bigger than most. We were met on the town square every day by Dennis Moore who is Council Member to boost tourism, for Glen Rose what a great man. He kept us informed of everything that was going on it town and all the shops.

Great soda shop with great shakes. The Green Pickle was great also, we shared a hamburger there and it was plenty for us.

Some took in the "Big City Music Revue" in Granbury  also.

Sure hope we have another Rally here soon as there are so many things to do and you can not get all done in a week. It may take a month. LOL

This  was the first of what we saw when we arrived in Glen Rose Texas
The entrance  to the Oakdale RV Park.
This park was first built in 1925 .
Purchased by the City of Glen Rose 2014 for $1,000,000. Then refurbished the park for an additional $1,000,000.

A walk around the park.

The "Oakdale Plunge" is a 330,000 gallon swimming pool built in 1925 and is the centerpiece of the Park. It was dug out with horse and mule and was originally a sulphur/mineral pool. Today the "Plunge" retains the original shape of the original pool and there are pictures showing the original diving platforms and slide. In 2011 the pool was upgraded but the two horizontal walls in the pool separating the kiddie pool and the deep end are original and reworked. While the original slide
and platform diving boards are no longer there, there is a slide and diving board for today's guests. Guests could rent a wool swimsuit for a nickel.
