2017 Memorial Day

Today Pat and I visited the Fallen Warriors Memorial on Cutten Dr, in Houston Texas to pay our respects to all those who have fallen for our Freedom.

Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, was conceived after the Civil War as a way to honor the Union's war dead, with Southern states setting aside separate days to honor fallen Confederate soldiers. By the early 20th century, the holiday had evolved to honor all military members who died in service.

Our Grandson Dillon is in the U.S.Army Stationed in Ft. Myer VA. serving in the Old Guard. What an Honor. He is there serving proudly in honor of all his family members who served and to protect our freedom.

Please visit their website: www.fallenwarriorstexas.org

WWW Castroville May 2017

Another good WWW Rally. We only had 7 RV's however, we had a great time.  2 guest coaches that were Bob Floyd / LaNelle Miller, and Terry/ Shirley Smotherman. We had 2 cancellations.

A little rain off and on this week but not too bad. One year ago they had grapefruit size hail for 17 minutes and 9 inches of rain following the hail, this did a lot of damage here.
We visited the Castroville cafe and then the girls did some shopping and the guys went to the auto parts store.
We went to Hondo and ate at Hermann Sons steak house.
We did visit the Dairy Queen quite a few times. Seems the cars just knew where to go.

We did get to visit the Toilet Seat Museum in San Antonio on Friday, and that is a must for everyone that visits San Antonio. There are 1248 seats here all created by Barney Smith. He will be 96 Years young tomorrow on the 25th.  We were told about this by Ed and Margaret Fitzgerald . Thanks to them.  ðŸ˜Š

There is a new Walmart here in Castroville and most of us made at least one visit there.

Bill Baker had another problem with  his RV on the way here. (Same as when he went to Jamaica Beach) his RV would shut down when the water level would go down. We looked at this and evaluated the problem. After checking, it was determined that maybe the cap was loosing pressure.
Bill purchased a new Radiator Cap and installed it and filled the radiator with coolant. he called after he got home after leaving Castroville and he did not have a problem going home. This looks like we were correct.. YEAH !!!!

We did try the restaurant at the park it is under new management and it was very good. It is now called Juliana's.

On Saturday a few of us went to Dziuk's Meat Market to purchase some fresh meat and goodies.

Sunday for those still left we went back to the Castroville Cafe and had a good meal and we were entertained by Bobby Zamora once again. He is really a great singer and sings a lot of old songs.
We played a few games but on Sunday we had a foursome of George F., Mary Welsh, Marcella Baker, and Pat. We could hardly play skipbo for laughing so much.
Laughter is good for you and we should be in great shape after that session.
They are starting on a rally room and should be finished by fall. They are taking in what was the spa and going to have a full fledge rally room with kitchen facilities. Will have to see how this goes.

We caught up with Bill Baker on I-10 and followed him to Castroville Texas.
New Walmart in Castroville. WOW
