Grandson's Eagle Scout Project March 6th 2011

The project was chosen for Cody, our Grandson to get his Eagle Ranking in The Boy Scouts. Mr. Dane Ruckstall is with the county and also affiliated with the scout troop. He marked all the trees, that are endangering others, for the boys to get rid of. No power tools allowed, this was the old fashion way, with bow saws, hatchets and a few others. They did such a good job that Dane had to go buy more paint to mark more trees. He said that they were much more efficient than some of the crews they hire to do this job. Everything had to be documented and now hopefully within the next month or so we will be attending his Court of Honor to receive his Eagle Ranking. Oh by the way Papa took the pics while I watched over the extra tools and drinks. They were treated to pizza and drinks after they finished their project and needless to say they were a little on the hungry side.

Telge Park on Telge Rd. Cypress Texas. The Crew,Jon Capo ,Cody Franklin, Adam Garcia, Danny Marymee, Ryan Fritz.

They all get to work clearing out what is marked .

Dad gets to try out his skills.

How the markings were done.

Cody getting with the program fast and that is Mom in the background.

More markings.

And more.

They are everywhere.

Cody picked out a difficult one to cut.

Tools in hand and ready to find more .

Piles are starting to mound up fast.

Looks like Cody found more to tackle.

Oh here is another one.

This is the trail they pulled the cut brush down to stack up on the piles.

Another pile being started.

And it is growing fast.

After the crew cut, Mr. Dane Ruckstall with Harris County Parks Dept. came and coated the cut offs with a herbicide to kill the growth.

Look who showed up to help her brother with his project. Colleen.

Looks like Cody is getting the work done by sister and Dad carting a rather large piece out to the drag area.

Wonder what is next? Mom, Colleen and Cody ask.

This was a large overgrown area, now it is all cleared.

Country Place RV Rally March 2011

We had very good weather all except for Saturday. We had the largest turn out ever for a WWW and we had a lot of good fellowship and games. We were glad all could come and hope our future rallies will be as much fun. It is a nice peaceful park and a lot of us tried their hand at catch and release fishing. Now Buddy said he caught a really big one, but we did not see the picture of it so I guess we have to take his word for it. We played lots of games and did a lot of visiting. Some of us went to a flee market on Saturday and ran into others from our group already there. Lots to see along 105. If you like flee markets. The week went very fast and soon it was Sunday. We elected new officers and George Franklin is president and Bess Bratner is Secretary/treasurer and Dean Parker is still our watchful sheriff. He gave all the guys there fair warning on what he was going to be watching for at up coming rallies. Our next WWW rally will be at Forest Retreat and hope to see all there.
