Our bus trip on September 11 will be a journey to Shiner, Texas to go through the Edwin Wolters Memorial Museum an outstanding legacy of Shiners history, Saints Cyril and Methodius Painted Church . Lunch will be at Werners Restaurant in Shiner followed by a tour and tasting at the Spoetzel Brewery Texas oldest independent brewery.
We arrived at 6:00 AM and the bus was here already. Already quite a few on the bus. We are finally ready to go and Wayne gets his knee walking gear on to collect the money for the day, We made our stop at McDonalds and then on to Shiner, Texas. A lot had been here before but for some it was a first. We toured the historic house with a lot of memories for us all and also a lot of items we can remember using. Think I heard a lot of the ladies saying they are not sure those were the good ole days. wonder what they meant by that? We then went to have lunch at as local café and got to visit for awhile. After finishing lunch, had to eat before sampling the brew. We were off to the brewery. It is hard to believe how much beer they run thru their facility in 24 hours. Can only imagine how much the large breweries do. after the tour we got to have a glass of our choice and 3 tokens were given then. You could come back and try a different one or keep drinking the one you like most. there was also pink lemonade for those who did not want the beer. We left there and a lot were ready for a nap. We made our usual stop at the McDonalds in Sealy on the way back. we had a very enjoyable trip and got to visit with some friends.
These tour guides of ours are the best. They spend lots of time preparing our trips. Again thanks for all you do. Even if we do take a little detour sometimes. No names mentioned.
Once we were underway Wayne had some work to be done.
Some great pictures of the sunrise as we were going on Hwy 362 .Then we got to Sealy for a stop at McDonalds for a break and some breakfast.
