Day 16 June 28 2010

This was a great day for us. We are dressed as if we are still in Texas. When we got up to Mt. Hood we kind of looked out of place in our shorts, haha with everyone dressed for skiing. We survived it. It was very impressive to see that much snow still in the end of June. We had such a good time at the lavender fram visiting with Mrs.Harris she helps with the orchards they have also, which consists of cherries, pears and plums. She does oil painting and has some reproductions of her work for sale. Just a great lady and so very active for her age.
The Falls was our last stop of the day and I decided to let George goto the top and I stayed down, that is when we needed to have both cameras, the other left at home but tried to get him with my phone.

Tree farms along the highway on the way to Mt. Hood.
More Christmas Tree Farms.
I think Pat might have wanted to stop and decorate one of these.
A Field just plowed ready to plant something.
Mt. Hood Information Center.
It was not Blue. A good thing.
Along the Oregon Trail still.

We stopped here and had a Huckleberry Shake, soooooooo good.
The Lavender Farm we visited.
This lady (Mrs. V. Harris) is 91 years young and lived in League City Texas until a few years ago before moving to help her son run this farm. She has a twin sister that lives in Marble Falls, Texas and she talks with her two times a day. They are the only ones left from their graduation class.
Me and Mom in the Lavenders field. Mrs. Harris took our picture for us.
Across the lavender fields and Mrs. Harris son's home in the background. He is a retired pilot and bought this 16 acres to retire on.
Multnomah Falls where we visited.
This was the base of the falls.
All of this falls from ground level.
The trail I hiked to see the falls.
Old hollow tree stump along the trail.
I made it again.
The story.
Pat stayed down from this hike. I don't know who was by Pat here (lower left of picture).
Moss on the trees up here.
Interesting dead tree on the 1/4 mile hike.
Information.
Nice picture I thought. This was in the information center at the falls.

Day 15 June 27 2010

Well we left Pendleton OR. this morning on our way to the Portland OR area.

The drive was beautiful along I-84 and the Columbia River. The wind was a little strong at times but we made it just fine, I was just a little tired once we arrived. It was only about a 200 mile drive today.

We first spotted Mt. Hood from about 140 miles away and we could not believe what we saw from that distance. It is beautiful.

On the north side of the Columbia River is Washington state and on the South is Oregon.

We will go sightseeing again in the morning. I will update our blog with pictures and a story after that.

Nice view of Hood Mountain, we were about 90 miles away at this time. Mt. Hood elevation is 11,240 ft.
Another picture of Mt. Hood in Oregon.
Another great picture we thought.
Yet another railroad draw bridge going from Oregon to Washington over the Columbia River.
ANother picture of Mt. Hood with the clouds hanging over it.
Another Oregon Trail post. This is another rest area along I-84 about 26 miles from Portland OR.
The many Oregon Trails.

Some Oregon History.
Another nice rest area along I-84 going west.
A highway bridge over the Columbia River. On the other side of the bridge is Washington state.

A train draw bridge over the Columbia River. First one Pat has ever seen.
One of the Dams on the river.
Where we are staying for at least 3 nights. Real nice park in Portland OR.

A little friend we saw this evening before we retired for the evening.
