Carthage Texas Rally for WWW RV Club.
While there were many things to see and do here, we will never stay at this Carthage RV Park again. The owner was very rude and at one time he advised Pat that he would refund and we could just leave as he does not like rallies anyway.
We here here from 10/29/2017 to 11/6/2017. We had 10 RV's in attendance.
we had fun in spite of the owner, the ants in some coaches, and a little weather change of plans.
We want to thank Gunter and Maria for a great job of hosting. They had activities you could participate in or you did not have to. They had researched places to see and we all had a great time.
We went to the Footprints in the sand Memorial and it was very moving and inspiring. If in the area of Carthage please check this out. It takes awhile if you read a lot of the inscriptions. We found the circle M cafe and we not only went once but went back the second time. good home cooking and when it is gone off board that's it for the day.
We went to the Country Music Hall of Fame and it brought back lots of memories. Juke box was free and lots of good music to listen to as you go thru the museum. Bobbie Nelson, Willie's sister was just inducted into the hall of Fame this spring. For those of you who do not know she places piano for him in his band.
We went to the Jim Reeves memorial on the out skirts of town and visited his grave site. We went to eat at the Texas Tea Room and were able to have the whole upstairs. we had a little incident, seems a table wanted to try to collapse. All was saved and we went on being seated.
Of course we had to make our pilgrimage to a Dairy Queen. Some went twice and I think some went 3 times. LOL It was right down the road from the RV park. Way too convenient.
We had a cookout one evening,, thanks to Phil Roberts for the grill and cooking.
We went to the Jalapeno Tree once.
We were treated to Clam Chowder by Gunter and Maria.
We had arts and crafts. We had coloring, we had a shirt altering lesson and Maria brought things to make a turkey for the fall. Everyone had a good time with these activities.
I believe we finished three puzzles also.
Gunter and Maria surprised us with a scavenger hunt. We were moving faster than we usually do to try to find the items.
We did a little shopping on the town square. If you go do not wait to shop on Saturday. Lots of the places were closed on Saturday. Crazy for a small town but there were a few we were able to go in for a bit but they closed around noon.
It was our super rally and it was a super time had by all.
