Our Church YAH Trip November 20 2012

Today we toured Chappell Hill Texas and the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenhan Texas on the County bus trip through our church group "Young At Heart". What a wonderful day we had and again we were blessed with great weather for this trip. We have such wonderful couples that are responsible for putting all our trips together.  We really appreciate all the hard work they do to co-ordinate  them. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiviing. Until next time.

We had our first rest stop at Rattlers in Chappell Hill.

Then we arrived at our first tour of Chappell Hill Texas.
 Chappell Hill College.
 Everyone getting off the bus.

The College Bell.

This is  the original Curtain in the school from 1927.
Old sorghum mill.

Cotton was some of the first crops in the area back in 1920's.

 A very old sewing machine.
The Stars and Bars meaning.

 Carpetbaggers and Scalawags.
The old post office here in Chappell Hill.
This is what it was like in the class rooms of the Grade School.

 The teachers desk.
What the old "Black Boards" looked like.
What the teachers saw from behind their desk.
Old Ice Tongs.
 An old Copper Still.

A very old Church in Chappell Hill.
Another very Old Methodist Church in Chappell Hill.

This Church was established in 1873.

 Where people were Baptised.

These are the original church pews.

The Old Rock Store. This is the only store built from Stone from this area in Chappell Hill Texas.
 Another old building downtown.
 They are discussing something here.
We were all waiting to go inside.

Beautiful wall hangings used to decorate and also be used as sound barriers in this room.
These are all one piece on each wall and was once requested to go into the Smithsonian in Washington DC but voted against this by the residents of Chappell Hill so it will remain here.
Our tour guide Mr. Edward Bentley from Chappell Hill Historical Society. Good Job.
Then off to have lunch at Chappell Hill Bakery.

The rest of this trip also included a tour of Blue Bell in Brenham Texas.
The group of us that made this trip.
 All decorated for Christmas.
 I think Nathan is ready.
Nice hat he was wearing for the tour.
Our tour guide Kallie. Great job she did.
Then after the tour we all had our choice of Blue Bell Ice Cream. Sooooo Good.
